Here is a follow up from my post on Oct. 25 about the Pet Select Pooper Scooper. I purchased yet another one today since it is the only product of its kind that Wal Mart carries and I refuse to buy a more expensive one at a pet store only to have it break also.

I am writing you to express my disappointment with your Allen’s Spring Action Pooper Scooper. I have purchased three of these products in just one year and every one of them has broken in the same place. Unfortunately this is the only product of it’s kind at my local Wal Mart, and I refuse to buy another kind at a pet store because it would probably cost 2 to 3 times as much and it may break also.
I have included an illustration of your current product and the problem it presents, and also an illustration of what you can do to improve the quality of the product. I urge you to share my disappointment with others in your company and make this right.
Also, because of the lack of contact information for your company; no phone number or web site; only an address to write to, I was forced to voice my complaint in my own personal blog to get my point across.

I also had trouble with my Pet Select Pooper Scooper. After a few months, the handle broke at the top. The spring tension was too high. I was able to repair the handle with a piece of plastic tubing, and then I removed one of the springs. It's working fine now. I also am going to write to the company.

we are constantly fixing the Allen scooper!! They always break in the same two places on the handle.Other than that they work great. I think if they took the curve out it would help. I would like to see them make it out of aluminum or some othr light weight metal. I'm sure it would cost more but I would buy it anyway. (If it didn't break)

I have purchased 4 scoopers in the last year . they always break in the top of the handle,at the curved top or one of the down shafts to the top. i use it every day ,but do not plan on buying another one unless this company wants to help.anyone know how to contact them,? can't find a address on internet. thank Alan patriotpaintball@sc.rr.com

I finally found the manufacturer (or at least the import vendor). It is FourPaws of Hauppauge, NY--(631) 434-1100. They told me that research on an aluminum version showed it would be too expensive for the market. I tried. The CSR said, "If you can make an aluminum version with reasonable cost, we'll market it for you."

My complaint isn't about the Pet Select Pooper Scooper, but rather the Pet Select Pee-Pee Super Stain and Odor Remover. It was completely ineffective. Frankly, my carpet smelled worse after I used it, and the smell has lingered for over a year and a half now.
However, that's not even what bothered me the most.
That would be the company's completely ignoring my refund request. They offer a money-back guarantee on the bottle, but when I requested it (following their instructions for a refund to the letter, including sending a copy of the receipt), I received nothing. Five months later I followed up with an email. Again, nothing. Not even an apology or response of any kind.
There is no way I would ever buy another Pet Select Product and I caution anyone else who does.

Scooping dogs' poop can be the grossest thing ever! Thanks to pooper scooper,made it easier and less complex! I just get one yesterday and i am really happy about it. My lawn is now poop-free!

Thanks for this. Mine has broken in the curve of the pull up handle. From reading these comments I reckon it's pointless to contact the company for a fix. I was going to try to buy a relevant part but it sounds like it would only break again. Can someone tell me how to do the tubing or any other effective repair?
